Threat Level Midnight

Where are you from, and how did you meet?

Our band consists of students from all three Hilliard high schools. We auditioned for and were placed into the ILC (Innovative Learning Center) course called Performer’s Institute, through which we formed Threat Level Midnight.

What’s your genre?

Our genre is alternative rock.

If you could be a member of any band (past or present), which band and what band member would you be? Why?

We would be Dave Grohl so that we could be a part of both Nirvana and Foo Fighters.

If you could open for any musician or band, who would it be?

We would open for Twenty One Pilots AND Panic! At the Disco (co-headlining)

What decade does your band belong in, and why?

Our band belongs in the ‘90’s / early ‘00’s. Many of our influences rose to success during that time, and our band has developed that ‘90’s / early ‘00’s vibe.

If your band were stranded on a desert island, pick one album that you’d all be happy to have with you.

If stranded on a desert island, we would be happy to have Blink-182’s Greatest Hits CD. We all appreciate the artistry of Blink-182. (However, this took a long time to get 6 of us to kind of agree, so don’t it super seriously).

What’s your band practice must-have food?

Our band practice must-have food is generally snack food from Speedway.

What’s the worst gig you’ve ever played? Best gig? Is Instaband your first gig?

Instaband is not our first gig. We’ve had two performances. Our worst was at Scioto Darby Elementary school. We had some problems interpreting one another’s signals, and each of us had individual mistakes as well. Also, this performance was outside, and the heat got to us. Our best gig was our Britton Elementary school gig. This is the only other time we’ve performed for an audience.

Name one song that you would absolutely never cover

We would never cover All Star by Smash Mouth.

What’s your writing process like?

We don’t have a specific writing process, but often, our guitarist will come up with a chord progression, and from there, we will figure out how to fit lyrics and other parts to the song. Other times, we’ll start with lyrics and build a melody, groove, and progression from there.

Any fun facts?

Our drummer is obsessed with memes. We come from three different high schools. Our bass player and guitarist were in a band in 7th grade called ‘Nuclear Butt’ (we’ve come a long way). Two of our members are first chair violin in their orchestras. Our singer was a world champion BMX cycler (once upon a time).
